Wacky Wellies Forest School

Welcome to Wacky Wellies Forest School

Back to Basics: reconnecting with our natural environment. Learning through an inspirational process of first hand experiences.

About us

My name is Naomi. I am a primary school teacher and specialist in early years and outdoor education. I also am a qualified Level 3 forest school leader. As a mummy of four little ones I understand the need and the struggle to get out and about.  It has definitely made me aware of the lack of forest school and outdoor learning opportunity. This has pushed me to pursue being a forest school practitioner, which has been an dream of mine ever since teaching in inner city schools, and has made me want to share this love of the outdoors with others. Although I love being the classroom teaching, nothing compares to having the outdoors as your classroom.

I am passionate about the outdoors and feel that it is the perfect platform for learning and development. My aim is to reconnect both adults and children with nature, facilitating a safe and inspiring environment to learn through play and experience.

I am so lucky to still be teaching in schools as well as being a freelance forest school leader.

I can't wait to continue this exciting adventure with Wacky Wellies Forest School.

Covid-19 Safety and Guidelines
Our main priority is the safety and wellbeing of all of our participants and staff that attend our sessions.  We are working very hard to make sure we can insure you feel safe and comfortable in our sessions making them as covid safe as possible. There is still a degree of risk when attending any group gathering and it requires all participants to be responsible to keep everyone safe and covid free. Being outside and in a large space already helps to reduce this risk. Please read through our guidelines thoroughly before booking your sessions, through confirming your booking with us you are agreeing to the following content.
Attendees
You should continue to maintain social distancing with anyone you do not live with. Only One adult will be able to accompany a child to keep numbers down.  Where distancing is s not possible additional precautions will be used such as wearing a face covering or shield. If staff are working closely with children a face covering or shield will be worn.
Hand Washing and Hygiene
Public Health England advises that children and staff should be encouraged to catch sneezes with a tissue, bin the tissue and wash your hands. We will have two hand washing stations with water and soap and hand sanitizer that can also be used as a precaution on entry as well as dotted around the site.
You should wash/ sanitise your hands, upon arrival, between activities, before meals and snack times, after using the toilet, at the end of the session before you go home.
Resources and equipment
All resources will be cleaned prior to session , each family group will be given a selection of resources for them to use for the session. any shared resources will be frequently cleaned throughout the session and will be placed in a central cleaning box after use and then replaced back once cleaned. Hammocks, tarps, gloves and ropes will only be used for one session then washed/cleaned appropriately.
If you or anyone in your household have any Covid-19 Symptoms
Parents/carers will be expected to assess  as their own and child's physical health, related to Covid-19. If they, or anyone in their household, are displaying any of the symptoms of Covid-19 then they must not attend the session. Please do not give children Calpol to suppress any high temperatures in order to bring them to a session at Forest school. They must also apply to take a test and follow the government’s ‘Track and Trace’ guidance.

If anyone develops symptoms during the session
Then they will be asked to leave immediately and be required to arrange a test to comply with NHS Test and trace. If test come back as negative then you will be able to attend the next session. However if the test comes back positive then you and your family will need to self isolate for 14 days and can return after that as long as your a symptom free.

NHS Test and Trace
To comply with the requirements of the NHS Test and Trace service, we will be collecting personal information Via booking form. To support NHS Test and Trace, we will hold these records for the duration of term and for 21 days afterwards. This reflects the incubation period for COVID-19 (which can be up to 14 days) and an additional 7 days to allow time for testing and tracing. After 21 days, this information will be securely disposed of or deleted following our Data Protection Policy and the requirements of GDPR.
